Important information for clients

In case you wish to have your official documents translated by a certified court interpreter, you have to present to us the original document/documents and also provide the details relating to your personal data (e.g. name and surname, address, number of your identity card or passport).

The personal data have to submitted to the Court Interpreter since he or she has to file them in the Register of Translations and Certifications. Upon request by one of the Courts, the Register has to be submitted to the County Court of Zagreb for inspection as the data entered have to remain in the Court’s official records.

Court Interpreters are obligated to keep secret all personal data and information that they come into contact with during the translation process and/or certification of texts submitted by the client.
Certified translations are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Rulebook on Sworn Court Interpreters, which went into effect on June 12, 2008, and was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia.

The Rulebook on Sworn Court Interpreters was enacted by the Croatian Parliament, and published by the Ministry of Justice. It contains detailed explanations relating to requirements which court interpreters have to meet in order to acquire a license for the provision of certified translation services.

A person can be appointed court interpreter if he or she has fulfilled not only general requirements for admission into the civil service but also the following special requirements:

- Excellent command of the Croatian language and the target language
- Excellent knowledge of judicial system in Croatia, state administration and legal   terminology
- Court Interpreter must be a holder of a university degree
